LEAD PHP DEVELOPER (ROANOKE)

We now need to design and build a new website for the business, converting from OSCommerce to Magento software platform.
The position is full-time in our Roanoke headquarters or flex contract if remote.
DUTIES
Responsible for the continuing design and development of both existing and planned websites on the Magento Enterprise platform
Hand-coding HTML/CSS prototypes, templates and mobile web experiences utilizing current industry standards and best practices.
Architect solutions that are scalable, easy to manage, stable and optimized for best possible performance on various devices and platforms.
Maintain a current knowledge set on and interest in industry trends and emerging technologies while taking part in research and development initiatives (e.g. you can't wait to start using HTML 5, PHP 5.4, etc.).
Cross-browser compatibility/testing with the ability to build a highly interactive site that works flawlessly in all the major browsers (we hate IE6 too).
Development of custom modules/plugins for PHP and MySQL based content management and ecommerce systems (e.g. Magento, WordPress, etc.).
Enhance existing sites and applications to improve usability, simplify and improve customer experience and conversion rates.
Collaborate with our team of skilled employees and external partners to define and execute on application changes.
QUALIFICATIONS
MUST HAVE
Detail-oriented, bright, self-motivated personality with the ability to grasp the initiative in a fast growing, collaborative e-commerce environment.
Organized and happy working in a deadline-oriented team atmosphere.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a cross-discipline, collaborative team.
Proven creative ability in web development and design.
5+ years programming in object-oriented programming languages, including knowledge of OO design and programming practices.
5+ years programming in PHP 5.
5+ years programming in MySQL (including extensive experience with MySQL 5.x).
3+ Years experience with Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator.
Experience with AJAX, XML and JSON data formats and an understanding of developing within an MVC architecture.
Expert-level knowledge of current HTML and CSS releases with a solid foundation in JavaScript and Javascript libraries (e.g. jQuery, jQueryUI, etc.).
PREFERRED
Experience in developing for Magento.
Solid understanding of browser/platform constraints and accessibility factors.
Good design and development skills, preferably demonstrated by having led, designed and implemented successful projects (tell us what you've done!).
Strong ability to work across functional teams, including designers, developers, marketers and company leadership.
Must work well independently and as a part of a integrated team.
Able to work on and successfully complete multiple projects, working within time deadlines and prioritize tasks for each.
